A factual analysis written in the form of a novel captures the fragility of our ecology as we humans go about our daily lives. Follows events when a small stream is abstracted to supply water for development and intensive agriculture is developed along its banks causing the river to shrink and eventualy die and the subsequent impact on the lives of the insects, fish, birds and mammals that live in and around it. There are no villans in 'The Stream' but as the story develops it raises powerful questions about priorities and choices about the kind of world we want and are creating
