Finding Birds in Bulgaria
Dave Gosney writes: ‘’I went to Bulgaria in February to look for Red-breasted Geese but we also enjoyed other special birds such as Great Black-headed Gull, White-headed Duck, Pygmy Cormorant, Rough-legged Buzzard, Steppe Buzzard, Long-legged Buzzard, Sombre Tit, Calandra Lark, Grey-headed Woodpecker and Middle Spotted Woodpecker. The extra 5-page supplement includes details with maps of where all these birds were found. The new maps, and sites for woodpeckers, will be of benefit to those planning a spring or summer trip too.”
The text and maps of the original book have remained unaltered, so this is not a complete update.
The sites covered in this supplement include: Lake Durankulak Cape Kaliakra Pomorie Saltpans Lake Atanasovo Lake Burgas Lake Mandra plus ‘new’ sites at Goritsa, Poroy, Alepu and Arkutino.
